Spot European toluene premiums rose by
$6.25/mt, to $246.25/mt during the week to February 10, due to increased buying
interest in the Market on Close process. This was despite lower prices and
higher market conditions. Before
this there was talk of calmer market conditions earlier on the week. This had
led to lower market price ideas. A source
stated that the market was quieter on the blending side since the beginning of
the week. Premiums fell from $240/mt
levels on February 3 to $220/mt levels on February 8. According to one source, the market was tense because of
volatile upstream costs. However, prices
