Sources said that trading activity in
Europe's naphtha market was low to begin the week due to subdued demand. This
is despite the petrochemical industry being hit by higher energy costs and
weaker end-user demand. The GMB reported that the GMB
members of the GMB union, based at ExxonMobil’s Fawley refinery in the UK,
voted to strike over pay between Nov. 21-Dec. 2. ExxonMobil
was not available for comment. It had stated that it has a "large and
flexible workforce" at Fawley's UK refinery and has "resource plans
that can cover a variety of scenarios." There was
still a persistent bearish general feeling in Asia. Some sources predict it
will last into 2023. Japan's naphtha fed steam crackers were running
at an average capacity of 80%...
