Sources said that the September
industry-settled propylene contract, which was agreed on August 31 at a Eur165/mt
drop from August's Eur1,230/mt price, is unlikely to have any impact on
European demand. This
contract was at its lowest level since October 2021. It came after discounts as
high as 70% and a plunge of $110/mt in average naphtha price in August versus
July. Sources claimed that the new contract
agreement would not spur spot demand because downstream buyers continue to be
very limited. A trader stated that he
doesn't believe it is due to the low price of propylene. The downstream market
