AA: Weak downstream demand and ample acetic inventory in China weighed
on AA prices in the week ended June 16, setting the tone for the rest of Asia. Chinese
purified terephthalic acid, ethyl and butyl acetate demand was weak, with
buyers lifting less raw material and burgeoning stocks of finished goods that
piled up in warehouses further downstream, pressuring AA prices downward. "The
epidemic has affected domestic demand, and the downstream consumption of acetic
acid is insufficient," a trader said. Local AA prices in Jiangsu tumbled
nearly Yuan 1,000/mt ex-tank on the week to Yuan 4,100-4,200/mt. Earlier in the
week, there were trades at $680-$700/mt CFR India, but these levels had
