AA: Asian Acetic Prices Extended Losses for
the Third Straight Month. This was due to a lackluster domestic demand and slow
downstream consumption in the vinyl acetate monomer, butylacetate, and ethylene vinyl acetate sectors. East
China's domestic prices were Yuan 200-250/mt less than the previous week, at Yuan
2,950-3100/mt during the week ended August 18. Market sources suggest that Chinese acetic acid prices may
have reached a bottom as some AA producers plan to reduce operating rates or
shut down their plants for a brief period. VAM: VAM prices in Asia were still under pressure due to
ample global supply and low sentiment in the butyl acetate and paints and
