AA: Asian Acetic Acid prices rose in the
week ending Sept. 29, due to higher feedstock costs. According to trade
sources, higher coal and methanol prices have pushed up Chinese AA prices. A trader stated that the prices of last week were not
tenable given current feedstock prices. East
China methanol prices rose from Yuan190/mt ($27/mt), week on week, to Yuan
2,790/mt on Sept. 29ed. Longzhong Information
Services data showed that China's coast methanol stock fell by 12.51%, to
646,100mt on Sept. 28. Spot cargoes of
methanol for quick delivery were discussed at Yuan 3,010-3.050/mt. This is
approximately $353/mt CFR China based on import parity. Sources said that this
was close to or below breakeven costs. FOB
