China's AA Production Rate at 85% / AA Inventory in China Rises 6.7% WOW / Chinese domestic VAM prices ease as producers delay turning arounds

Asian acetic acids prices dropped March 20 on the back of bearish fundamentals. Vinyl acetate monomer was stable amid sparse discussions. According to sources on the market, in China, a healthy production rate among AA producers (estimated at 85%) and the restart on March 13 of Guangxi Huayi Energy Chemical’s 500,000 mt/year units and 700,000.mt/year units weighed on prices. On March 20, AA inventories in China increased 6.7% from the previous week. They were at around 167,000 mt. AA FOB China is down $7/mt from last week to $318/mt. On the Asian VAM Market, the coal-based VAM price dropped Yuan 50/mt (or $6.85/mt) week over week. The week ended March 20. However, the ethylene-based cargoes remained steady at Yuan 6,100/mt.
