The Asian acetic acids prices ended the week higher due to plant turnarounds. However, domestic Chinese vinyl acetate monomer fell as production rates increased. CFR China VAM remained stable despite thin spot discussions. A company source confirmed May 29 that Celanese Corp, the acetyls manufacturer in China, shut down its 1.2 million mt/year Nanjing acetic plant May 25 to perform planned maintenance.
