AA: Prices traded lower in the week ending
July 7th due to lackluster demand and abundant supply. Chinese AA producers could be heard operating
their plants at 70%. Domestic demand was weak as China increased
COVID-19 restrictions in several eastern cities, including Wuxi (a
manufacturing center in Jiangsu province) and Si county, Anhui province, after
new clusters emerged. A trader stated that China doesn't appear to be
opening up. "People are waiting to see more stimulus
measures from the government." China's port
inventory was approximately 130,000 mt. Sources said
that India, China's largest export market, was experiencing slow demand. The
