AA: Asian acetic acid prices
fell in the week ending July 14th due to high domestic production and slow economic
recovery in China. Chinese AA
producers could be heard operating their plants at 80-85%. However, downstream
demand was weak and there was pressure for excess exports. China's
largest export market, India, saw little demand due to the monsoon season that
had impacted sales in the downstream textile and dye industries. Sources said
that the outlook for the butyl-acetate sector in Southeast Asia was bearish due
to concerns about rising inflation and slow demand from Europe and the US for
finished goods. A trader stated that acetic acid prices could
continue to be high...
