AA: Chinese Acetic Acid prices
rose in the week ending Sept. 1 due to lower operating rates. The ten-day shutdown by
Celanese Nanjing of its 1.2 million mt/year Acetic Acid Plant on Aug. 24, also
supported Chinese AA prices. Sources in
India and China said that discussions had been sporadic on Sept. 1 due to a
festival in India. A deal was reached for
a parcel of 2,000 to 3,000 mt at $405/mt CFR South Asia on Sept. 1. There were a number of buyers who were covered in September. A trader said that they had purchased cargoes at $480-490/mt
CFR India prices two weeks ago. Also, the
AA inventory on the west coast of India was large at 85,000 mt....
