A: European acetic acids market prices held
steady during the week ending February 23rd, despite a slow spot trading
environment. For delivery in Northwest Europe, AA
was flat at Eur1,000-1,020/mt for the fifth consecutive week. The prices
for South Europe were steady at the same level. According to
a trader, Acetic acid sales on the spot market were "fairly slow." A producer
stated that "[Spot]demand seems to remain unchanged, but relatively weak." The producer
said that contract volumes offtake was the same as expected for most downstream
markets except automotive applications. VAM: The
European vinyl acetate monomer spot price did not change for the fifth
consecutive week. On February 23, spot assessed VAM-free delivered
prices remained flat at Eur1,350-1,370/mt, in Northwest Europe. Sources say...
