Despite higher upstream settlements and price rises, the US polyethylene
Terephthalate markets remained stable in the week ended March 2. Import PET resin prices were assessed unchanged on the week
at $2,139-$2,161/mt(97.50-98.50 cents/lb) DDP US West Coast, based on previous
market talk of pricing in the high 90s cents/lb range. The week saw higher import prices for the US East Coast. Sources in Asia noted increased interest from buyers based
in the US and Europe. However, they said that they are not currently offering
destinations outside of Asia due to unpredictable freight times and high
shipping costs. FOB Northeast Asia PET was
valued at $40-45/mt more at $1,190-1,225/mt on March 2. FOB Southeast Asia PET
