quiet in the week ending February 3, as arbitrage to Europe was tightening and
production margins were being pressured by higher upstream prices of benzene,
sources claimed. Spot
styrene for February was $1,100/mt. This price was stable throughout the day
and week. March FOB ARA Styrene was valued
at $1,219/mt February 3, a decrease from the peak of $1,280/mt February 1. Shipping costs are $93/mt and the netback is $1,126/mt. This
is just below the US Gulf Coast price. A
shipping broker stated that the market is quiet right now, citing low demand
