The US Gulf Coast spot price of
benzene fell slightly on Oct. 18, as buyers followed lower bids. October FOB USG gasoline
was 1 cent/gal less than the previous day, at 322 cents/gal. The price has been slowly falling from the Oct. 12 high of
324.50c/gal, which was set at 6 weeks. A
market source reported on Oct. 18 that there was a bit of excitement at
September's end. "Since then there
has not been as much buying interest." According to a source, benzene bids may have fallen in
recent days as the whole energy sector cools down. NYMEX November WTI dropped $2.64/bl to $82.82/bl. Two shuttered styrene manufacturers in the US Gulf Coast
region are being restarted to support benzene...
