US August DDP-benzene dropped by 15
cents/gal to 377.50c/gal on Aug. 16, as the benzene market continued to follow
weakness in upstream energies. WTI
crude futures dropped by $2.88-3.50/bl on August 16 to $86.53-92.50/bl. This is a
decrease of 3.22%. Benzene fell 3.82%. The benzene to-crude ratio was 1.83 on the day. This is
still below 2 -- the level at which benzene and crude are balanced relative
to each other. It also represents the annual average ratio for benzene in 2021. RBOB gasoline futures were 5.10 cents/gal less on Aug. 16,
at $2.9007-3.500/gal. This is a decrease of 1.73%. On the day, the benzene premium was 87.43c/gal over RBOB
