ending Jan. 11. Poor weather was a major factor in increases in bales prices on
the West Coast. California bottle-bale prices rose by 2 to 3 cents per lb
during the week. Sources said that the decrease in recyclable material was
due to historic storms and lower temperatures than normal. PET bottles are
more popular in warmer climates and when consumers are outdoors. Importers
in the flake market described a strong start to the year. One seller said
that they could have almost 100 South American ocean containers booked for January,
