US PVC: August export PVC prices plunge $230/mt on
week■ Buyers are tempted by Slash Offers■ Logistics logjams continue to stymie outflowsSpot US export PVC prices fell $230/mt in the week
of August 3. This was based on confirmed deals at $770-$780/mt FAS
Houston. Prices were set at $790-$800/mt FAS Houston. The base range was
$770-$780/mt FAS with an additional $20/mt to account for increased drayage
trucking costs and storage of packaged material in warehouses. The cost of
freight, insurance, and margins is not included in the assessment. Initial
offers were for $800-810/mt FAS, but they were reduced to
$770-780/mtFAS. Since May 25, when US export PVC prices were assessed at
$1745/mt FAS, 54.4% has been lost. To entice buyers, sellers have reduced
their offers. This is to be competitive with Asian PVC pricing which has fallen
24%-27%...
