From Aug. 19, the Asian benzene price was
up $14.66-20.50/mt to $914.33-930.50/mt FOB Korea. The afternoon trading
session saw physical FOB Korea talks pick up. The September loading bid was
last heard at $916-930/mt, while the October loading bid at $911-930/mt was
near market close. In the meantime, the H2
September/October spread increased by $2-3/mt and was now $4-5/mt due to firmer
prompt prices. The FOB Korea paper market
also increased, with September's offer at $912-930/mt, compared to a $910-930/mt
bid near market close on Aug. 22. Support
for the benzene market was provided by firm downstream styrene monomer prices. Spot SM prices were higher by $31-36 mt on Aug. 19, at
