European styrene price rose on Nov. 7 in
Europe despite abundant material and unsold imports reaching European shores
during the second half November. CIF material
was at an Eur50-Eur53/mt higher bid than FOB, despite the increased costs. This
illustrates how import volume pressure is evident. CIF cargoes
were also discounted due to the pressure. Due to the
lack of many producers on the market and the reduced run rates at a third
location, some tightening could be expected prior to imports arriving. The lower
production status in Europe has been blamed on the rising energy prices. This
led to a decrease in styrene monomer production margins. The prices
