Dec. 7, Asian ethylene markets were
somewhat bullish, with participants stating that some buyers raised their
indications amid uncertainty about January 2023 supply. Some market sources
claimed that the uncertainty was caused by extended negotiations for 2023 term
contracts, and a strike of South Korean truckers that temporarily halted talks
for South Korean material. A trader in
China stated that it is not clear when the strike will end or if January South
Korean shipments will arrive on time. Some buyers are open to discussing at
slightly higher levels to ensure some cargoes are secured first. The lingering worries about squeezed downstream margins
meant that buying was cautious. The
January 2023 shipment of ethylene was sold at $910-$920/mt....
