Turkish polystyrene markets remained unchanged from the week ending February 8,
with little change in spot demand following the earthquake. The spot
prices for general purpose polystyrene in CFR Turkey were unchanged at
$1,450/mt. The rescue operation that was underway following two
earthquakes in the region on February 6th resulted in little trading activity,
particularly in southern Turkey. Sellers stated that the original
shipments to Turkey were intended for the port at Iskenderun. However, the port
was damaged in the earthquake. Shipments were diverted to Mersin, according
to sellers. In North Africa demand was quiet. North African exporters
continued to avoid Egypt's market amid concerns about delays in receiving
