As trade activity slowed towards year's
end, CFR China spot Methanol prices remained stable through Dec. 22. According to market
sources, price activity in China was also decreasing as buyers sought to
maintain stable inventory levels at year's end. Market participants stated that downstream sales activity is
slowing down, as the US and Europe markets are closing for the year. Therefore,
Chinese manufacturers aren't looking to stockpile at this time. Market sources indicated that there is hope that stocking
will be possible in H1 January due to the Lunar New Year holiday, which falls
earlier in H2 January. This is because downstream inventory levels have been
reduced after high export sales in November, early-December and are generally
