Total Energies has announced it will close its Antwerp steam cracker by the end 2027. This decision was made due to an "important surplus of ethylene" that is expected in Europe. The company confirmed that there will be no job losses as a result of the closure. The European chemical industry has been facing significant challenges over the past few years due to declining demand and rising input costs. These pressures have forced several companies to cease operations or repurpose their existing facilities.
