Asian Toluene Prices Fall as Demand Remains Lukewarm on Markets Sources : Chinese market softens and major producers adjust to market prices / Southeast Asian participants only buying on a needs basis

Asian toluene closed at $621/mt on April 16 - $9/mt less than the previous close and at $653/mt on the same day for 2,000 mt of loading in May's second half on a letter credit basis. There were no further trades or counterbids. One Southeast Asian trader stated that demand for toluene was still low. Another trader said the benzene price had fallen so much, there is no longer any profit to be made in TDP (toluene proportionation process). Sources said that Sinopec, a major Chinese producer, had reduced the price of their listed eastern China toluene from Yuan 150/mt down to Yuan 5.550/mt.
