Asian Toluene: Stable despite weaker China domestic prices South Korean producers maintain high selling prices - SE Asian buyers await permit approval

The Asian toluene price remained stable at $661/mt FOB Korea on July 4, while the FOB China mark fell by $7/mt, to $674/mt. FOB China's H1 and August laycans are $674/mt in line with the weaker Chinese domestic price. On July 4, the prompt ex-tank price in east China was Yuan 60/mt less at Yuan 5,590/mt, which is equivalent to $670.71/mt based on import parity. A market source stated that sellers are trying to maintain prices at $670-680 FOB Korea while buyers believe the market is backwardation. A second source said that due to the low margins of petrochemical production, producers may be adjusting cracker and reformer feedstock to favor gasoline blend components.
