toluene prices rose on Jan. 13 due to firmer crude oil and nearby downstream
markets. A bid was made at $820/mt FOB Korea to purchase 2,000-mt H2
February loading. This was on a letter of credit at sight basis. There
were no trades. Sources said that although the initial bid considered
cargoes with 99.5% purity, it was later open to ASTM D-841
standards. There were no offers, which indicates a tighter market. An
earlier trading session saw a swap bid for 1,000 mt of toluene papers at $780/mt
FOB Korea marker March. This was offered at flat rates compared to March FOB
