Asian Toluene: Prices mixed, sentiment varies / Multiple bids on FOB Korea before early MOC / Thai housing oversupply is expected to impact toluene consumption

On March 28, Asian toluene was $10/mt more than its previous close of $726/mt at FOB Korea, and stable at 735/mt at FOB China. Multiple bids were heard in the morning, with the highest at FOB Korea $725/mt for 3,000 mt loading in the second half of April on a letter-of-credit-at-sight basis. There were no trades or offers heard in the following days. The distributor stated that more than 60% of Thai toluene was sold to the coatings industry, which primarily serves the housing and construction sectors. "The [Thai] Housing Sector is facing an Oversupply of Around 200,000 Units, which could take more than six Years to absorb," the distributor said.
