Dec. 22 saw a continuation of the decline in
spot European methanol prices, while discussions about the Q1 2023 contract
pricing were completed. Two deals were made at Eur322/mt, and
one at Eur321/mt for at least 3,000 mt. Participants
in the settlement said that the European methanol CP was reached at Eur478/mt
for the first quarter 2023. This is lower than the Eur505-510/mt agreement for
the fourth quarter 2022. According to participants in the
settlement, this price level was reached with at least two sellers as well as
two buyers. It was also confirmed by other players in the methanol market. According to
a source, the decline in prices was due to lower consumer demand in Q4...
