August 11th was a quiet day in Asian
methanol markets. India was closed for a public holiday, and trade activity in
China was low. Sources
said that a few methanol to olefin plants had reduced operating rates or
stopped production temporarily due to low downstream demand and increased
stocks of finished goods. Methanol inventories
along China's eastern and southern coasts rose 3.7% over the past week to
1.03million mt Aug. 11. Longzhong Information services data showed. Yuan 30-50,/mt more expensive in East China than the
previous week. They were exchanged at Yuan 2,415-24,445/mt Ex-tank Aug. 11, for
quick delivery. Although offers for
dollar-denominated cargoes are sparse, sources suggested that it should be
between $315-350/mt and a 1.8%-22% premium to the...
