The US methanol buying sentiment was
bearish on Aug. 31, despite lower offers in the market. Market participants
reported that there were offers as high as 111c/gal and as low as 109c/gal FOB
ITC. Prices for September and October
methanol remained the same at 108c/gal FOB USG. This was despite the fact that
the market participants reported on the day. A trader responded to questions about low buying sentiment
by saying "I think demand has dropped but sometimes it's difficult to tell
because of the way that the spot market works." Methanol demand tends to decrease in the summer and then
picks up again during winter. Prices in
Europe remained stable on August 31. Logistics constraints remained the main
