Asia's propylene market fell Nov. 4, due to
low demand for polypropylene. The
spread in price between propylene and polypropylene was $50-$55/mt on Nov. 4.
This is well below the breakeven spread of $150-$170/mt. Some sources
claimed that sellers were willing to increase their offers to meet cost
pressures. Market sources claim that a PP
supply shortage is hampering propylene buyers, as suppliers are struggling
to sell due to weak international demand. According
to a source close to this matter, buying indications in the dollar markets fell
week-on-week as Chinese domestic markets declined.
