As participants looked for potential export
routes, a slightly higher level of MTBE supply on the US Gulf Coast put more
pressure on the market. According
to Kpler shipping data, the last parcel shipment that was seen was an ITC
loading in mid-August headed for Mexico. Octane
boosters were available, but buying interest had been slow. FOB US Gulf Coast MTBE was at 311.92c/gal on Aug 25, an
increase of 0.54 cents. This was due to
the lower NYMEX RBOB gasoline prices that made the blendstock more appealing to
people from other regions. European MTBE
price increased from $14.75/mt to $1,198.50/mt FOB ARA. This is an increase of 4.15
cents/gal or 337.23 cents/gal. Market
