This week, European MEG
sentiment was mixed. Barge prices eased amid weaker Asian spot prices but truck
levels remained steady as some business was completed at different levels
within a Eur800-860/mt trading band this week. Both supply and demand were viewed in mixed light. Some buyers cited prohibitive logistical costs for trucking
transport as a reason why they were not interested in buying. CIF ARA T2 levels indicated a slight decrease in demand
despite Asian prices falling $20-25/mt. One
trader acknowledged that PET operating rates were still low. This indicates
weaker PET consumption. There was a hope
that demand will improve in the future. We
are seeing an increase in truck demand. I believe we should be seeing the 860
EUR more often...
