The European naphtha market saw an
improvement in supply conditions due to stronger gasoline blending demand and
better output from refineries. Sources
say that the volume of European naphtha continues to rise as refineries
continue to experience maintenance strikes and weaker gasoline demand. A source said that "I believe there is more [naphtha]
available than there was because blending demand has cooled off from three-to
four weeks ago and [refineries] run are coming back after
turnaround/strikes." This is despite
the fact that gasoline prices are lower than naphtha, and the arbitrage between
Europe and the US has remained closed. Sources
said that high quality light virgin naphtha traded at a $50-55/mt premium over
