The East-West spreads on the naphtha
markets remained in negative territory despite a slight recovery February 16.
This is due to higher European prices as it attempts replace Russian products. A source said that the E-W was negative and that
many things from the Med should remain in Europe. The
front-month East-West spread, which is the spread between CFR Japan naphtha
cargo Swa and the CIF equivalent -- was valued up 75c/mt at minus 2.50/mt.
April was steady at 25c/mt. Some sources expressed concern that the
supply from Europe would not be sufficient to satisfy European demand. According to
Kpler shipping data, the January forecast for exports to the Mediterranean from
Northwest Europe is at 166,000mt, compared to 384,000mt for December. The discount
