Asian butadiene prices were rangebound on
Nov. 17, with spot rates remaining unchanged at $770/mt CFR China, and $750/mt
FBO Korea. This week, the market sentiment in
China was more positive than usual due to hopes that COVID-19 restrictions will
be lifted and reintroduce petrochemical demand. According to
some market sources, spot butadiene cargoes were somewhat back in demand in
China due to the planned startup of new rubber plants in November and December. The news did
not lift the Asian market as it would be receiving additional supplies within a
few months. China is expected to see several new butadiene
plants open soon. This will increase the country's capacity by around 270,000
