Asian ethylene dropped $10/mt since Jan. 6,
to be assessed at $820/mt Northeast Asia Jan. 9 and $870-890/mt Southeast Asia
Jan. 9 The market was still under pressure Jan. 9, having fallen
$20-$30/mt the prior session. According
to market sources, spot demand in Northeast Asia fell $10/mt in Jan. 6, to
$820/mt CFRb> /b>Northeast Asia and $870-885/mt CFR Southeast Asia Jan.
9.b> /b>The upstream CFR Japan naphtha price increased $17/mt to
$655.25/mt Jan. 9, after falling $20-$30/mt in the previous session. The spread
price between ethylene and naphtha came out to $164.75-180.95/mt Jan. 9. This
was lower than a typical breakeven spread of $3000-$350/mt.
