- Styrene spread narrows- As the cost of living increases, demand falls

Due to the summer holidays and low
downstream demand, European benzene market liquidity was very thin on Aug. 10. As the market was in a
contango until September, activity, and prices will likely pick up, and the five-
to thirty-day forward delivery lay can be increased $2.75-3.50/mt to $1,000.25-1,040.50/mt
CIF AR. Since July, Styrene market prices
are in a downward trend. Styrene market
prices have been in a downtrend since July 1. This has been due to a
significant slowdown in the construction and automotive sectors, as well as rising
living costs. The spread between benzene
styrene was $156.50-170.50/mt, even though energy costs for producers
increased.
