Styrene
rises $55/mt for five-to-30 days forward laycan Premium to benzene increases by $50.75/mt on
the week

At the end of Jan.
28, benzene market activity was very quiet, but trading was still being
conducted downstream at higher levels in the styrene monomer market. Styrene prices increased to $50/mt-$55/mt as a producer
purchased several cargoes for loading in February. According to the producer, a contango structure was likely
in the month due to tighter availability after the US import cargoes were
consumed at the beginning of the month. On
Jan. 28, the five-to-30 day forward loading lay can for Styrene was valued at
$55/mt$60/mt FOB AR. This was
$16.25/mt-$16.35/mt less than Jan. 21. The
spread over benzene increased to $373.75/mt-$373.85/mt, an increase of
$50.75/mt-$50.85/mt due to the increase in the styrene markets.
