Asian Styrene monomer: Prices rise on stronger futures and July buying interest / SE Asia spot discussion muted; supply could tighten soon / SM futures rise Yuan 43/mt DOD

Styrene Monomer CFR China and FOB Korean markers were $914/mt & $904/mt respectively on July 4. Both marks are up $5/mt from their previous assessments, reflecting gains in the China market. On July 4, the front-month August EB2508 styrene monmer futures contract on the Dalian Commodities Exchange was closed at Yuan 7,340/mt, up Yuan 43/mt from the previous day's trading at 3pm Beijing time. On the domestic Chinese market, the demand for July cargoes is the highest, with premiums increasing by around Yuan 30/mt per day. One trader stated that "we shouldn't expect to see Chinese exports in the near future as current prompt prices are too high in China."
