Asian Styrene Monomer: Prices lower on inventory accumulation / Benzene FOB Korea drops $2.67/mt over day / SM futures fall Yuan 13/mt DOD / SM east China inventory increases 5,800 mt WOW

The styrene monomer CFR China and FOB Korea markers at $903/mt and $893/mt, respectively, on July 2, both down $1/mt from the last assessment, tracking the decline in the Chinese domestic market. The front-month August EB2508 styrene monomer futures contract listed on the Dalian Commodities Exchange was at Yuan 7,262/mt July 2, down Yuan 13/mt day over day as of the close of the afternoon trading session at 3 pm Beijing time. In the domestic China market, the intermonth spread between prompt and end-July cargoes continued to narrow throughout the session, with a buyer in China remarking that "nobody wants spot cargoes now." Another market source in China said, "The prompt/end July spread has narrowed significantly due to inventory accumulation. Fundamentals-wise, supply is presently outweighing demand."
