Styrene Monomer CFR China and FOB Korean markers were $970.50/mt & $960.50/mt respectively on March 21st, both down $16/mt compared to the previous assessment. This was due to the downward movement in the Chinese Futures Market. Asian SM fell as premiums decreased in the day tracking lower Chinese futures and slightly higher crude oil prices. "The premiums are weakening." A SM buyer in China said that futures and premiums were both falling. As of 3 pm Beijing time, the Dalian Commodities Exchange's front-month May EB2505 styrene monmer futures contract closed Yuan 136/mt less at Yuan 7,849/mt. According to market sources, the average SM operation rate in China for the week ending March 21 was 74.99%. This is 0.31 percentage points higher than the previous week.
