The European polystyrene market was lagging
the upstream feedstock market for styrene monomer in free-negotiated contract
price negotiations in the week ending Dec. 7. Trinseo and INEOS Styrolution have suggested
decreases of Eur90/mt/mt and Eur80/mt respectively. 7 letters
citing customers seen. Styrene monomer was settled at Eur1,425/mt
December, a decrease of Eur132/mt. Traders said that a third producer
offered decreases in the Eur80 to Eur120/mt price range. The larger
decrease was due to direct offers between customers and producers, while the
smaller one was from distributor companies. December is
a slow month for demand. According to a trader, many factories
