Asian Styrene monomer: CFR China marker drops to lowest level for over 21 months -Crude futures tumble $3.49/b SM futures Yuan 171/mt

The styrene-monomer CFR China and FOB Korean markers were $864/mt & $854/mt respectively on April 9 - both down by $21/mt since the previous assessment amid increasing trade tensions. On April 9, the styrene-monomer CFR China mark reached its lowest value since June 28, 2023, when it was $859.50/mt. As of 3 pm Beijing time, the Dalian Commodities Exchange closed the afternoon session with a Yuan 171/mt drop in the front-month contract EB2505 styrene monmer futures contract. Sources say the SM market fell to a new record low, before recovering in response to the US imposing 104% of tariffs on China as well as the drop in crude futures. A market source based out of China stated that "SM prices will follow crude and remain negative" in the coming days....
