to a stronger China market and a weaker currency, the Asian styrene markets
were pulled in both directions on May 6. Despite the tighter
trading range on the East China domestic market, prices fell due to a weaker
dollar/yuan rate of 6.5672 to 6.6332. According
to a source local, Rupee 129.50/kg was the domestic styrene price ex-tank in
West Coast India. This was still strong. A
few market sources suggested that styrene monomer would arrive in June on a CFR
India basis. However, this fluctuated around a cash differential between
$100-$130/mt higher than CFR China basis styrene. The CFR India styrene monomer was $1,460-1,480/mt based on a
