Sources said that the Northwest European
naphtha market structure grew to six weeks high on Dec. 30, amid a stronger
gasoline price. February/January spread rose 75c/mt
to $4.25/mt. This is the highest value since Nov. 22, and an increase of minus
3/mt from Dec. 14. The February/March spread was also higher by 75
cents/mt at $4.50/mt. In the meantime, naphtha stocks at the ARA
dropped 8.8% to 319,000 mt in week to Dec. 29. This is due to an increase in
demand from blenders, partly due to the stronger European gasoline markets.
This could also lead to stronger trans-Atlantic arbitrage. The freezing
weather conditions have affected many refineries along the US Gulf Coast, which
