- Strong buying boosts trade momentum- Benzene-naphtha spread crosses $500-535/mt

Asian benzene started the trading session
on a bullish note, on June 2, thanks to the overnight rise in the US market. The FOB Korea benzene
market remained $35-40/mt higher than the previous session at $1,361-1,400/mt on June 2. The US June DDP benzene saw an
increase of 32 cents at 542. 5 cents per
gall, as there was strong demand for gasoline pool derivatives. This was in contrast to the fall in upstream naphtha which
fell $27-32/mt to $817-840/mt CFR Japan on June 2. The spread of benzene-naphtha
rose by $62-65/mt in the same period, to $544-570/mt. The market saw increasing interest in August cargoes after
the close, while July loading cargoes were still in demand. The July-August backwardation increased to $44-50/mt, from
$29-34/mt. One source said...
