Asian MTBE rose $7.45/mt on the day to
$940.89/mt FOB Singapore February 14, tracking crude oil prices. MTBE demand remains stable in Southeast Asia for
March cargoes. A deal was made at $960-975/mt CFR Singapore to purchase 5,000
mt volume of March arrivals this week. A trader
stated that market participants anticipate increased demand in the coming weeks
as summer gasoline blending season approaches. For April
arrival, offers were received at $950/mt CFR Singapore. The trader
stated that the [blending] season should begin in H2 March, when winter-grade
gasoline becomes summer-grade gasoline. According
to a market source, the arbitrage window between China and Singapore is still
closed because prices were too high and parties couldn't agree to a deal.
