Although prices for toluene in Asia were strong May 5, despite a slight
softening, there was still a lot of supply from China to South Korea, and South
Asia wasn't seeing any spot cargoes. Trading sources reported that several June loading cargoes
were being heard ex-China. Sources said
that a 5,000-mt cargo from Dalian was purchased at about FOB Korea and $9-10/mt
L/C at the sight or T/T for 30 days. Sources
said the cargo was headed for Yeosu, South Korea. Trading sources claimed that traders sold another 3,000 to
5,000 mt to South Korea for June loading. One
source claimed that South Korean producers were moving large amounts of toluene
to MTPX units and TDP units as gasoline blending and TDP production...
